Introduction/abstract

Tonkunstler Orchestra · Vadim Repin · Frank Strobel

Steiner, Waxman, Korngold, Morricone

A film in music: Just a few notes are enough to conjure up Scarlett O’Hara kissing Rhett Butler’s moustache, or the ending to a duel at a railroad station. Composers like Max Steiner and Ennio Morricone immortalised Clark Gable and Claudia Cardinale in films such as «Gone with the Wind» and «Once Upon a Time in the West». Now the Tonkunstler Orchestra, film music expert Frank Strobel and violinist Vadim Repin bring the sounds of the big screen to the Wolkenturm. The Wiener Comedian Harmonists are the preview to the main feature in the prelude.
