Introduction/abstract

Venice Baroque Orchestra · Xavier de Maistre · Massimo Raccanelli

Salieri, Haydn, Krumpholz, Boccherini, Mozart, Petrini

Two masters of their craft: Nils Mönkemeyer has brushed off the viola’s dusty image and performs Schubert’s breath-taking Arpeggione in the Prelude. The harp is also more than an instrument: it's a creed. Certainly when played by Xavier de Maistre. In Grafenegg, the Vienna Philharmonic’s former harpist places it at the heart of Mozart’s world, performing works by harp idols Johann Baptist Krumpholz and Francesco Petrini. The Venice Baroque Orchestra and Massimo Raccanelli add masterpieces by Salieri, Haydn and Mozart.
