Tan Dun, Composer in Residence of the 2009 Grafenegg Music Festival, performs on two concert evenings. This second evening will complete a trilogy following the two concerts framing «Carmina Burana». Since being «discovered» in the early 1990s, Tan Dun has gained an international reputation as an outstanding composer and one who knows no musical nor geographical bounds. His output includes orchestra works, film music – one of which was awarded an «Oscar» – and operas. It is a matter of course that the last evening of the Festival is dedicated to him, likewise his cooperation with the Tonkünstler Orchestra and a host of international percussion soloists, who will perform the work commissioned by the Grafenegg Music Festival alongside other works.
