Rudolf Buchbinder

Artistic Director Grafenegg

For Rudolf Buchbinder, Grafenegg is a place of musical encounter. He has been Artistic Director of the Grafenegg Festival since 2007 and finds the atmosphere creates a «place where old and new meld together naturally». His career as a pianist began as a chamber musician – today he performs with the world’s great orchestras and fills its major concert halls as a soloist.

He recently recorded the Brahms piano concertos, the first concert can be heard in Grafenegg this summer. He has made over 100 recordings, including the complete keyboard works by Joseph Haydn and a complete cycle of Mozart’s piano concertos.

At this year’s festival, Buchbinder is joined by the Wiener Virtuosen for works by Haydn and Mozart and he brings the festival to a close with the London Symphony Orchestra and Semyon Bychkov in a concert featuring works by Gershwin and Rachmaninov.
