EUROPEAN UNION YOUTH ORCHESTRA SUMMER RESIDENCY

The European Union Youth Orchestra is focusing on the ≪European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018≫ and adopts an artistic approach to try to grasp the growing challenges of our time. Its extensive programme «Celebrations and Challenges – Europe’s Year of Cultural Heritage» addresses a host of themes around tradition and change: What cultural currents have shaped today’s Europe, and where is it headed? A ≪Classic Close-Up≫ concert in Vienna is part of the summer residency, alongside other innovative formats. With open rehearsals, a Music Gallery, Music Labs and Late Night Sessions in Grafenegg, the European Union Youth Orchestra traces our cultural heritage whilst looking on to changes ahead.

EUROPEAN UNION YOUTH ORCHESTRA

Campus Grafenegg opens with the European Union Youth Orchestra’s first visit in 2018. The best young musicians from the 28 states of the EU meet at Grafenegg to rehearse in preparation for their major spring projects. Productive collaboration will generate new ideas and exciting programmes that the Orchestra will present on its Spring Tour in Europe and beyond. Their stay also looks forward to the summer residency, during which Grafenegg is the Orchestra’s ≪Summer Home≫. The highpoint is an orchestral concert with pianist Till Fellner that celebrates the Easter holiday and the blossoming of nature in music.
