Sir Simon Rattle is someone who makes audiences sit up and take notice; not at all surprising for a conductor, as he wants to draw the greatest possible attention to the music. But the internationally celebrated Brit also uses his popularity to give a platform to social causes. He visits Grafenegg with the London Symphony Orchestra, which he has led as Chief Conductor since 2017.
The renowned orchestra's guest performances go beyond its two concerts at the Wolkenturm, however: its musicians will show their versatility in a Late Night Session and in a chamber music matinee with Rudolf Buchbinder.
The weekend's final concert features the contrast-filled second Violin Concerto by Composer in Residence Georg Friedrich Haas, performed with the Tonkunstler Orchestra by its dedicatee, Miranda Cuckson. The orchestra performs a symphony by Schumann in the second half under conductor Baldur Brönnimann.
