European Chamber Music Academy

ECMA

Founded in 2004, the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) has established itself as the European talent factory for young professional chamber music ensembles. Top European training institutions and leading festivals collaborate within a training and support programme for the best young musicians throughout Europe and all the way to Shanghai. The ECMA, under the artistic direction of Johannes Meissl, Hatto Beyerle and Patrick Juedt, has been a central partner of Grafenegg since 2015.

Characterised by experimental openness, artistic independence and expertise in actively shaping the world of music in the future. Artistic reflection is given a great deal of space at the annual residency in Grafenegg with cultural-historical, philosophical and transdisciplinary lectures and workshops.

Grafenegg is part of a four-year cooperation project since 2021, supported by the Creative Europe programme, which is being implemented by twelve partner institutions from nine different countries: «ECMA Pro - International Career Development and Socially Engaged Outreach in Chamber Music» expands the existing ECMA, trying out new formats and activities and taking it to a new level

Fascinating chamber music

For one week the European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) ensembles have come together in Grafenegg to fine-tune well-known and lesser-known works of the repertoire.

On Saturday (01.06.2024), the ECMA will be offering a glimpse behind the scenes in the afternoon: With free admission, you can experience how the young musicians are preparing for the final concerts together with their tutors and how they are putting the finishing touches to their interpretations of the works. On Saturday evening, four selected ensembles will present themselves to the concert audience at the Reitschule.

At their Best-of concert, the young musicians reveal the results of their intensive work and perform chamber music at its finest. The programme is again strictly top secret this year, but you can be sure of one thing: you'll bask in the rich variety of chamber music.
