Carmina Austriaca
The Middle Ages in Austria: Minstrels in love, bawdy peasant ballads and lusty drinking songs – all wrapped in archaic rhythms, lyrical longing and a pulsating thirst for life. In their staged cantata, «Carmina Austriaca», Gerald Wirth and Michael korth present the era of monks, wine and minstrels in Austria.
What was once heard in forts and castles now rings out from the Wolkenturm: music by the oldest Germanspeaking minstrel, Kürenberger, songs by Walther von der Vogelweide and selections from Austrian minstrels. A gallop across the earth and through heaven and hell.
