Fabio Luisi’s career began over 30 years ago in Austria, with roles including Music Director of the Tonkunstler Orchestra. Now in demand in opera and concert life worldwide, he returns this evening to the podium of his former orchestra. On the programme is Bruckner’s Eighth Symphony, a work with plenty of majesty – which is dedicated, moreover, to Emperor Franz Josef I. At the start of the concert is Max Bruch’s entrancing first Violin Concerto in the hands of Bomsori Kim – a big new name in the classical world.
