Yutaka Sado

Principal conductor of the Tonkunstler Orchestra

Since becoming Music Director of the Tonkunstler in 2015, Yutaka Sado has become indelibly associated with the orchestra. Sado, born in Kyoto, is one of the most important Japanese conductors of our time. After a youthful apprenticeship as Bernstein’s assistant, Sado has conducted many of the world’s great orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Orchestre de Paris and the London Symphony Orchestra, and made his Washington debut in 2018. Since 2005 Yutaka Sado has been Artistic Director of the Performing Arts Center (PAC) in Hyōgo and Music Director of the PAC Orchestra.
