Introduction/abstract

Mariinsky Orchester St. Petersburg · Wiener Singverein · Rudolf Buchbinder

MOZART · BEETHOVEN

Beethoven has accompanied Rudolf Buchbinder all his life, and Mozart always challenges him with new aspects of humanity. «Playing Beethoven is like discovering something new every night,» he says, «and Mozart is usually a revelation of humanity.» The Artistic Director of the Grafenegg Festival here leads the Mariinsky Orchestra in a programme featuring both composers and closing with Beethoven’s «Choral Fantasy».
