Benjamin Britten discovered Mahler in the 1930s when others had forgotten him. Here we stage Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, a revelation to Britten, with the sublime voice of Christiane Karg. Also on the programme are songs by Britten himself and works by Oliver Knussen, Britten’s protégé who died in 2018, one of the most important contemporary British composers.
