Introduction/abstract

Piotr Beczała · Helmut Deutsch

Schumann, Karłowicz, Dvořák, Rachmaninov

From every tenor’s songbook: Piotr Beczała is one of the most sought-after tenors of our time with his narrative talent, soft timbre and big voice. For his Matinee in Grafenegg he has put together a very personal programme. Alongside Schumann’s Romantic «Dichterliebe» are songs by his compatriot Mieczysław Karłowicz, whose music is an integral part of Polish national culture. Beczała, with Helmut Deutsch at his side, also performs some of Sergei Rachmaninov’s finest lieder.
