Antonín Dvořák:
Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in b minor op. 104

- Interval -

Antonín Dvořák:
Symphony No. 8 in G major op. 88

Czech Philharmonic · Mørk · Netopil

The best of Bohemia: With Antonín Dvořák, the Czech Philharmonic is on home ground. Truls Mørk performs the cello concerto written by Dvořák while in the USA. One of the most beautiful concertos ever composed, Brahms said of it: «Why did I not know that it was possible to write a cello concerto like this? Had I known, I would have written one long ago!» For his Eighth Symphony, Dvořák was inspired by the atmosphere at his summer residence in central Bohemia. An evening of heartfelt feeling for nature and home.

We are deeply shocked about the passing of Jiří Bělohlávek who was scheduled to conduct this concert. Tomáš Netopil will conduct the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in his stead.
