Mahler, Beethoven, Dvořák

An evening of titans: Ludwig van Beethoven and Gustav Mahler represent the grand masters of humanity. In his Seventh Symphony, Beethoven addresses the European idea, Napoleon’s wars of liberty and their effect on the individual. Gustav Mahler, in his songs from «Des Knaben Wunderhorn», evokes the entire spectrum of human desire: longing, solace and joie de vivre. Manfred Honeck and Matthias Goerne place these lieder at the heart of our world.
