The duration of Schubert's «Great C Major Symphony» prevented its wider acceptance for years, until Robert Schumann praised its «heavenly length» in a glowing review. Schumann's Piano Concerto is somewhat shorter, but just as full of romantic fantasy. The interpreters of these two popular works are pianist Hélene Grimaud and conductor Paavo Järvi. |
