Tonkunstler Orchestra

Orchestra in Residence and Grafenegg Festival Orchestra

The Tonkunstler Orchestra traditionally opens the summer season in Grafenegg with the Midsummer Night’s Gala, broadcast live on Austrian television. It performs a number of concerts at the Grafenegg Festival and opened the 10th anniversary year.

The orchestra’s musicians are also involved in the Grafenegg Campus including the INK STILL WET workshop and prelude concerts. The Tonkunstler Orchestra is an integral part of musical culture in Austria. Its repertoire spans Viennese classicism to Romanticism to 21st century composers.

It enjoys residencies at Grafenegg, the Vienna Musikverein and the Festspielhaus St. Pölten, while recent tours have taken it to Japan, Great Britain and the Baltic states. Numerous CDs reflect the orchestra’s versatile artistic profile.

2015 saw the release of the complete Brahms symphonies with Andrés Orozco-Estrada and it has just released recordings with Yutaka Sado of works by Richard Strauss, Haydn and Bruckner on its own label.
