Introduction/abstract

European Union Youth Orchestra · Thomas Hampson · Luca Pisaroni · Manfred Honeck

R. Strauss, Mozart, Bellini, Rossini, Verdi, Respighi

In the early 20th century, music was in revolution. In Italy, Ottorino Respighi sought a musical language still in the tradition of Giuseppe Verdi while absorbing impressionistic influences from France. In Germany, Richard Strauss was discovering completely new sound concepts.

The European Union Youth Orchestra and Manfred Honeck perform masterpieces of both of them. Thomas Hampson joins Luca Pisaroni to interpret great duets of Italian opera.
