The debut concert of the Grafenegg Festival Orchestra will mark the beginning of a new chapter in Grafenegg’s history in 2027. Building on the successful work of the Grafenegg Academy, this orchestra will bring together outstanding young musicians at the start of their careers with experienced orchestral musicians from Europe and around the world. The combination of youthful energy, fresh perspectives, and artistic experience creates the ideal conditions for extraordinary musical experiences.
The renowned conductor Vladimir Jurowski will be the defining artistic figure of the new orchestra. Together with him, the Grafenegg Festival Orchestra will develop a distinctive profile that combines excellence, curiosity, and a joy of musical discovery.
The Grafenegg Festival Orchestra will make its grand debut as part of the 2027 Grafenegg Festival. Featuring works by Charles Ives, Steve Reich, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Anton Bruckner, the opening concert spans a spectrum from groundbreaking musical ideas to the great milestones of European orchestral culture, while also marking the beginning of a new artistic tradition in Grafenegg.
