A rising star of baroque music makes his Grafenegg debut: despite his young age, the Italian countertenor Raffaele Pe can already look back on an eventful career that has included regular appearances with Jordi Savall, William Christie, and John Eliot Gardiner. He has rapidly captured audience's hearts, thanks to his great virtuosity and expressiveness. And so magic promises to be in the air from the very first bars of this Good Friday concert at the Auditorium. Raffaele Pe and the ensemble he founded, La Lira di Orfeo, transport us back to Naples around 1700, where Alessandro Scarlatti caused a sensation with his effect-filled operas. The composer's penchant for dramaturgical contrast can be heard in his atmospheric «Sacred Concerts».
