A drum roll to kick things off: the Schlossklänge season gets underway with a concerto for percussion and orchestra written especially for internationally renowned virtuoso Colin Currie, who since 2020 has been curator of the Grafenegg Academy. A profoundly personal symphony follows: in his Fifth, Pyortr Ilyich Tchaikovsky brings his struggles with destiny and with his own life to the fore. His inner torment, the romantic spirit of the age, the proverbial Russian soul and touching pathos are reflected in this heartrending testimony to a life's tragedy.
