Introduction/abstract

Concertgebouworkest · Tabea Zimmermann · Tugan Sokhiev

BRAHMS · BARTÓK · TSCHAIKOWSKI

When Béla Bartók was writing what would be one of his last works, musician William Primrose told him not to worry about the limitations of the viola. His posthumous Viola Concerto turned out to be one of the most difficult pieces for viola. Here Tabea Zimmermann sounds its melancholy depths with the Concertgebouworkest before cooling off with Tchaikovsky’s «Winter Daydreams» Symphony.
