Europas Helden?

Beethoven’s «Eroica», conducted by former EUYO member Leonidas Kavakos, takes centre stage on this concert evening, which explores a series of questions: What role does culture play in the development of Europe? Is there such a thing as a European cultural identity? What unites us, and what divides us? Can our musical heritage help to forge a sense of identity? A panel discussion will focus on Europe’s «heroes». German historian Philipp Ther will speak about Ludwig van Beethoven and his time. Afterwards, host Philipp Blom will join the panellists to discuss how Europe understands and reimagines its «heroes» today.
