Böhmische Klänge · Late Night SessionDescription
Wheat fields swaying in the wind, rustling forests, rousing polkas: music «from Bohemia's groves and meadows» reigns in this romantically picturesque evening with the Filharmonie Brno under Dennis Russell Davies. Not only because the programme features the symphonic poem of the same name from Bedřich Smetana's cycle «My Fatherland». While the work celebrates the Bohemian landscape along the Vltava River, it also looks back upon history and legend with «Tábor» and «Blaník»: the folk travel guide is transformed into a national manifesto. Young cellist Julia Hagen ignites even more Slavic passion in Antonín Dvořák's scenic «Waldesruhe» and the brilliant Rococo Variations by Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
