Description
As a Heldentenor («heroic tenor»), and one of the most important of our time, Klaus Florian Vogt is celebrated all over the world as a Wagner interpreter. But the singer from the north German state of Schleswig-Holstein is one of those clever artists who maintain their vocal flexibility through singing Lieder and can thus succeed even outside of the «hard discipline» of Wagnerian opera. For example with Franz Schubert’s cycle «Die schöne Müllerin», which centres on the joys and sorrows of a love-smitten young journeyman miller. But this time the work is not performed in its conventional version: Andreas N. Tarkmann has expanded the piano part for chamber ensemble, enabling Schubert’s explorations of the soul to glimmer in subtle instrumental colours. Ensemble Acht, whose repertoire has garnered acclaim for years, including with Schubert’s Octet, takes on the role of Klaus Florian Vogt’s sensitive musical partner.
