50 years of Grafenegg Advent: in 2026, we’ll be celebrating one of the most wonderful traditions, marking the anticipation of a cosy and peaceful Christmas season!
The Grafenegg Advent, launched in 1976, is one of Lower Austria’s most beautiful traditions, and year after year the magnificent castle and the festively illuminated park fill visitors with the magic of the Pre-Christmas season.
With the traditional Christkindl Post Office, the St Nicholas procession through the fairytale park and musical activity stations, there is a varied programme on offer for the youngest visitors, whilst inside the castle visitors can explore a wide range of craft stalls and sample delicacies to their heart’s content in the ‘So schmeckt Niederösterreich’ gourmet village.
The musical highlight is the festive Christmas concert by the Tonkünstler Orchestra, conducted by Giovanni Antonini, featuring, amongst others, Nikola Hillebrand, Patrizia Nolz and Andrè Schuen, who will be performing J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio this year. The ORF Lower Austria ‘Advent der Stars’ will, of course, once again create a festive atmosphere with guests from cabaret, theatre and television.
