Description
The intimate and the tender reign in this morning concert. The slow middle movement of Frédéric Chopin's Piano Concerto in E minor is, according to the composer, a loving retrospective of sweet memories, «like a reverie on a beautiful, moonlit spring night.» Chopin's piano concertos dispense with symphonic argument and place the solo part at the centre, unchallenged. While the piano shines as the singer of virtuoso arias, the orchestra rolls out the red carpet for it, namely Rudolf Buchbinder and the Chamber Orchestra Vienna-Berlin. Antonín Dvořák's light-hearted, charming Serenade in E major is a perfect example of noble entertainment at the highest level. It is a light-footed miniature symphony with an additional waltz and a divine Larghetto.
