«Shout for joy, exult, rise up, glorify the day»: the beginning of Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio has been regarded for generations as the musical synonym for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. The narration of the Christmas story by the evangelist, enriched by festive choruses, devotional chorales and expressive arias, has long delighted us in the concert hall as well. Under the direction of Giovanni Antonini together with the Arnold Schoenberg Choir and a hand-picked ensemble of soloists, the Tonkunstler-Orchestra, with many years of experience in baroque music, present the cantatas I to III. A perfect way to get into the spirit of a peaceful and joyful Christmas season.
